I love research and preparing as much as the next person, but sometimes you really just need to “let go and let god” as they say. I’m not religious but I feel like if there is anywhere to let the universe take the wheel, it would be Tofino.
This guide uses Tarot (with the classic, timeless Rider-Waite deck) to help you see what the Tofitian experience is trying to teach you.

How To Use "Tarot For Tofino":
start with your sun sign (the one that everyone knows) - this is the “ego” part of you and will tell you what you want from Tofino
if you’re into astrology, you can also look up your rising sign. This will tell you more about the role you play while in Tofino.
and if you want to go even deeper… look at your Moon, Venus, & Mars to learn what you need, what you value, and what motivates you.
Tarot For Tofino is deeper than what activities would be best for you; instead we are looking at what may come up, what the magic and power of Tofino can offer you, and with this how you can come with a more open heart to whatever there is to experience on this land that is beyond just… doing stuff.
This doesn’t need to be a full on analysis of your life or experience. The cards for each sign were not consciously chosen, but pulled. This is from the universe, for you, as a reminder for whatever you may need.
Take it with a grain of salt, leave what doesn’t resonate, and remember you’re the boss of your experience.
The Signs
ARIES

Card:
8 of Pentacles (reversed)
Meaning:
utilizing your resources, devotion to process, creation, the self as part of the experience, embodying your truth, taking a courageous step forward
Overview:
Pentacles are all about the earth, material world, and our resources. 8 is when we have everything we need including ourselves. It is so easy to get caught up in acquiring the “things we need” to “do what we want” but this card is a reminder that not only do you have what we need to start, but you also are everything you need. Tofino shows you that it’s not that deep to just play with what you want. If you don’t see it in the world yet, try creating it. If you haven’t experienced something you want, try being it. This card reversed lets you know that this energy is about who you let yourself become rather than what you actually create in the world. Tofino is a reminder that you are your greatest project.
TAURUS

Card:
Blank Card
Meaning:
pure potential, a blank slate, the universe, all the resources you could ask for, a listening state, resonance, ask for what you want
Overview:
Rare card pull! The Blank card to me symbolizes the bridge between The World & The Fool. It is pure potential, a place of the universe where we can ask for anything and receive it. The trick here is to be brave enough to be direct, and stubborn enough to keep refining the asks until it is exactly what you want. Here we can look at what lays under our wants; the values that drive them, the emotional experiences we hope to have. The Blank card teaches us to ask for what we want and then be open to how you receive it. The trick here is to release control while also still maintaining your standard.
GEMINI

Card:
The Chariot
Meaning:
movement, leaving what no longer works, trusting the process, holding space for nuance on the path, act like you’re protected
Overview:
This card wants to get going! It knows there is a journey ahead and whether consciously or not, you’ve decided to make a choice to take you to the next part of your story. This card helps you understand that the right path doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges or hiccups; but that regardless of how lessons appear that keeping an air of “it’s not that serious” and remembering to laugh about the mishaps is an essential part of its lessons. There is no path in life where everything is easy, but every path in life gives us the opportunity to get clear about how we want to hold space for who we can be. It asks you to trust yourself, take your hands off the wheel, and know that the universe has your back - especially when you surrender control.
CANCER

Card:
The Hierophant
Meaning:
wisdom, chosen beliefs, the side of ego that equips us for the path, assistance from the universe, responsibility for our own POV
Overview:
Believing in something isn’t the same thing as practicing it, Cancer. It can be activating and even scary to put your money where your beliefs are but ultimately this is what brings you out of the protective shell mode and gets you back on the path. This is a deeply spiritual card, which makes sense for a sign ruled by the moon in one of the most magical places on earth. Instead of trying to make yourself comfortable (because you’re so good at that), try instead to expand the reality of what you believe into something you know through experience. There is room here to unlock something special when you move from hope & listening instead of fear & comforting.
LEO

Card:
Page of Pentacles (reversed)
Meaning:
investing in curiosity, using your resources to become yourself, long term visions, fertile environment, operating from the heart
Overview:
Another turned inwards card, and a reminder to you Leo that just because you are the sun doesn't mean you need to give all of your energy and resources away. Tofino for you is a time to re-invest in yourself, to see the way the world gives you power; to take what you know or have learned in other aspects of your life and apply it to your own heart dreams and personal being hood. Not everything you do needs to be for others. When you take the time to resource yourself and turn that sun to the inner landscape, you’ll be surprised at how much more abundance you have to give. No idea or dream is too small or unworthy. Let what feels fun lead the way and know that your pleasure is priceless.
VIRGO

Card:
Queen of Swords (reversed)
Meaning:
nurturing the mind, new neural pathways, goopy time, deep processing, when what we think/believe is becoming what we know/experience
Overview:
This is what I call a “goopy” card. It’s sort of the energy of a caterpillar going into the cocoon to become a butterfly - but the in-between part where we need to trust the process and allow oneself to fully dissolve in order to coagulate into the next phase. Tofino gives you the space to process more deeply than the mind. It resets the nervous system, sort of like a fresh layer of snow on the mountain, and gives you the ability to try new paths. Don’t be afraid to not know while you are here, Virgo. Sometimes the plans actually take us off the path. It doesn’t need to make sense to anyone else - not even to you. If you feel curious to try new things, ask yourself “what is the best thing that could happen?” and move towards that.
LIBRA

Card:
King of Swords (reversed)
Meaning:
expansion, new spiritual and mental territory, embodied truth, the unknown but make it sexy, transformation, emotional processing
Overview:
The Kings are what I call “boundary makers” and often when we think of a boundary, it is a kind of limitation. Here I want to view a boundary more like an unexplored part of the map - in order to be able to go there, we must be willing to go there before we know what there is. Which means that we must also get beyond what we are told makes us safe and choose what truly allows us safety in our personal understanding and experience. You have enough information to choose for yourself, Libra. You don’t need to wait for permission or the next report to come in - and you may find that when you ask for what you want instead of just what you think you’re allowed that your experience is not only expansive but truly transformative to your inner world. Let yourself change your mind, let yourself listen to what your body wants, and let what you truly value choose for you instead of the story.
SCORPIO

Card:
9 of Swords
Meaning:
self-imposed limitation (& being free of it), overcoming anxiety & overwhelm, releasing what you can’t control, feeling what you don’t understand
Overview:
Okay Scorpio, Tofino isn’t playing when it comes to your experience. Although a lot of your inner world experience is intense, it can also be fun and playful! The 9 of Swords highlights the way in which we let stories, unanswered questions and our fears make decisions for us. But we are reminded that the body has different information - that we can be safe and be free. Your experience in Tofino is going to be questioning why you let certain things control you; where the stories or the parameters come from. How these protect you from feelings that may be intense or too-big for daily life. Go run naked into the ocean! Let yourself feel what needs to be felt! Don’t settle for the story in your mind! Whether here or in daily life, if you find you have created or are living by conditions that stifle your desires then Tofino is the perfect place to look at those things and release them lovingly.
SAGITTARIUS

Card:
2 of Swords
Meaning:
duality, this-or-that, the secret third space, extremities in experience, false protection, acting on intuition vs acting on story
Overview:
Often times the things that exist on the opposite ends of an extremity are actually closer together than they are far apart. Like two clasps holding together the secret-third-space of our own experience. Whether you are the kind of person that prepares for the best or the worst, both lead to some kind of disappointment due to a disconnection from what is actually happening in front of you. Although you have incredible intuition, there are times that you force yourself to look away from something that is directly in front of you because it isn’t a part of what you prepared yourself for. Here, Sag, you learn that just because you have what you need for both ends of the spectrum doesn’t mean that you need to hold those anticipations to a point of exhaustion within yourself. Stop waiting to be disappointed, stop trying to control everything to avoid disappointment. You will genuinely enjoy what is right in front of you when you let it show you what it is. Looking at the way you contort your own experience may be emotional, but once you stop with the mental chokehold you’ll find your body is actually so ready for a good time and trusting of whatever comes forward. There is nothing coming to get you!
CAPRICORN

Card:
Page of Swords
Meaning:
curiosity, play time, finding your own way to do things, allowing the unknown to be as important as the known, courageous choices
Overview:
The pages are such a beautiful, playful energy for you Capricorn. Although everyone see’s you as the work-work-work type, I know your truth. You want to play just as hard. You want the spiritual and the material. You know that everything we know to be stable came from one persons curiosity. The Page of Swords reminds you that everything is made up, and if you truly want to create something lasting then the way to do that isn’t by force but by listening and trying. You also know that we learn so much faster when play is involved. This is a place where the stakes are low - you can figure it out here. You can play here. And the courage required is more about being willing to listen to your intuition and recognize when there is a new path that wants to be discovered - without feeling like you have to develop every aspect of it. That brilliant mind and heart deserve some time to wander around; this brings you closer to your power, and to innovation in whatever part of yourself or life you are looking for it.
AQUARIUS

Card:
The Tower
Meaning:
coming back to truth, returning to the path, protection, clarity, the will of the universe, removing structures that inhibit us
Overview:
I know this card scares a lot of people due to its legacy, but truly I feel this is such a clarifying card that puts us back on our path after a period of rest. It doesn’t need to be dramatic - it’s more of a reminder that some things are inevitable (like moving forward) and if we resist it then the world will do it for us. The Tower doesn’t need to come by force, it can be a place in our journey we return to for rest and leave the key under the mat when we are ready to endeavour our journey again (if that feels right). Here, it is a reminder that even for the most lofty-idea Aquarian, that we all get stuck sometimes in what makes us feel safe. This is very different than what makes us feel alive. Maybe you have to offload some responsibilities, or actually utilize your PTO. Whatever your tower is, Tofino will show you just how good it feels to leave and that nothing will fall apart or die if you remember there is more to life than what your big purpose is. Remember to have fun, to explore, to not let the weight of wanting to be of service to others override the need of being of service to your spirit. Don’t wait until burn out to come, instead use Tofino as the path and reminder there are other ways.
PISCES

Card:
Knight of Pentacles
Meaning:
recycling energy, moving resources from one area of life to another, practical steps towards the unknown, using the resources around you
Overview:
The Knight cards are in the business of “creating, sustaining, and destroying”. In other words, they know that in each element there is an essential resource that can be used in many different ways. That sometimes we need to dismantle one thing to have the material for another - sort of like lego. Tofino opens up a different world for you; whether it is seeing a different way to get things done, or knowing that you want to pour your energy into something new. It also reminds us that all trees start as seeds. In order to learn the magic of what isn’t yet known, we have to be willing to be in the unknown. To face (and embrace) our fears or apprehensions lovingly. Tofino is an amazing place to start, a great ground for innovation and feeling the resources of the world around you. Whatever you have been dreaming of being, doing, or experiencing, this card reminds you that to be known something must first be unknown. While you are comfortable with this in your mind, applying it outwardly is a different experience. Take that expansive quality that exists in your dreams and mind, and plant some seeds here. You’ll be surprised at how the magic of Tofino nurtures them in ways you couldn’t expect or prepare for.
